Moses changed his name to Joshua which means Yahweh is salvation. Moses has his hands up, things go well. The symbolism is powerful. Look up as source of your salvation. God’s hands above you will take care of you. The Lord tries to raise people’s view heavenward. The Israelites will face many battles, battle with death, venomous snakes and he tells them to lift up a standard, a banner, a brass serpent on a standard-salvation from above. We have a tendency to want to fight our own battles. We need the Lord as our standard bearer, let him carry a flag in front of us. This story helps us so much in times of trouble. The Lord is my banner, in all the conflicts; we need to remember where the strength comes from. Salvation comes from above.

The Israelites just crossed the Red Sea and they're on an extreme high when the hit an extreme low which was that the find no food or water.Discouraged, now they’re questioning if God has brought them out to die. Suddenly they see water, and their expectations are raised. However it turns out that the water is bitter and at this point they're thinking this must be a cruel joke.At this point, Moses cried out to the Lord, which is what we should always do in situations like that, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood.
