LONNIE: Let’s welcome back Steve Wholberg to the program again. The brand new book that you are putting out is the Hour of the Witch. And. Well, many people don’t have a clue what you’re talking about, because it’s Witchcraft that old craft from yesterday, is it still really around.

STEVE: That’s Right! Well I see the Harry Potter phenomenon as a trend that is desensitizing young people to the dangers of real Witchcraft. And Witchcraft is still with us, even though it’s a ancient practice. It has taken on new forms and it’s put on a friendly face called, White Magic, but at the core, it’s still the same damaging spiritual power that comes from Satan

LONNIE: What we want to focus in on today is just like people out there like to defend themselves with Martial Arts; what about defense against these dark arts that are out there? Kids today are playing with Wicca just like they use to play with magic boards.

STEVE: One of the reasons they think that they can play with these things is because they think that they can protect themselves from the forces of evil, and that they can just tap into the good forces. In the Harry Potter series, Harry goes to an occult school to learn about how to become a better wizard or a witch. He takes classes on Divination, Potions, and Spells. And one of his classes is called The Defense against the Dark Arts. Basically what that is doing is teaching that through Witchcraft we can defend ourselves against the dark arts. That philosophy is the same one that is found in Witchcraft. They think that they can cast spells against the evil spells to stay away from the bad stuff.

LONNIE: That is the consummate oxymoron, isn’t it? Harry Potter goes to this particular, to learn how to protect himself from the dark arts.

STEVE: That’s the subtle danger of Witchcraft, because kids can get into it for good and they can stay away from the evil forces, and they don’t realize that by entering that path they are only opening themselves up.

LONNIE: So Wicca does the same thing? They have spells and so on to stay away from the dark forces?

STEVE: Oh Yes! In many books it talks about tapping into colors and light and you can put a wall of protection around you while you are working magic to protect yourself from evil. Ephesians 6, is God’s method of real defense, it says put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. For wrestle not against flesh and blood, but the forces of darkness, against the powers and of the darkness of this world

LONNIE: So the only way to really protect ourselves is to wear the armor of God which comes from the Bible?

STEVE: That’s correct! It’s putting on the armor of God, and Paul lists in Ephesians 6:14, he talks about girding your loins with the truth. Truth is a protection against the dark arts.

LONNIE: And Jesus says’ very clearly, that I am the way, the truth and the light, thy word is truth.

STEVE: And the Holy Spirit, is the Spirit of the truth

LONNIE: So you don’t find that in Wicca, or in Harry Potter?

STEVE: No! The Wicca is filled with lies. They claim to be true but in reality they are false. And it’s only through putting on Gods armor and truth that we can protect ourselves. The next armor piece is righteousness. That has to do with living a righteous life, we first put on Christ’s righteousness, and then we through His power live a righteous life. It helps us separate the evil from us. Than it also lists the gospel of peace, which is the good news that Jesus-Christ died ion the cross for our sins. And that is the only way that awe will ever find peace in our lives. In my book, I have a whole chapter about the defense of the dark arts, and testimonies from people who thought they were getting into friendly Wicca, and than they almost ended up being destroyed. They came to Christ and He delivered them and gave them life. So, for people who just think that there aren’t real forces out there trying to destroy people, are kidding themselves.

LONNIE: You know, I don’t know if anyone ahs ever done a connection between this and…Just a week ago I heard on KNX News a report, that here in the Southland, that there a re more suicides per 100 kids, I in 10 attempted suicide last year. There getting more and more into those strange things and they don’t see any way out for them, they don’t feel that there’s any resolution. So, perhaps there’s something here that Jesus would want to share today on this broadcast.

STEVE: The answer is not a method, but a person. The answer is Jesus Christ. It’s His power. It reminds me of the story of a man in Mark 5, who was deep in the clutches on demon possession, and he was running naked among the graves and he was totally uninhabited by spirits, who called themselves a legion. That’s what happens when people get into the occult, they’re opening themselves up to legions coming in and taking control over their lives. What happened is, this man came running at Jesus and foaming at the mouth and the disciples were terrified and they ran away. They looked back and Jesus wasn’t with them. He stood right there, looked at this demon possessed man, and drove out the spirits. Thousands of them left this man and went into the pigs, and the pigs drove themselves off of a big cliff. Right after that it says that disciples came back and they looked at this man, and he was clothed, sitting, quite, and in his right mind. Lonnie that was big thing, he was in his right mind. And that shows that a path to a right mind can only come from Jesus Christ. And that’s just one example from the gospels where people were literally possessed by demons, and Jesus fixed their minds, and drove out the demons and forgave them of their sins. That is what we are offering to all of you today, not some new method or formula theory, God is offering you a better life that only He can cure.

LONNIE: For that one person out there that may be crying out, what would you say to them.

STEVE: We need to get real practical and confess out sins. Because when sin goes out, God comes in. Get rid of everything that is associated with Witchcraft. This is for those who truly want healing, and God will come and rescue us from Satan’s forces whenever you’re ready.
